James G. Gaynor II, CEO/President
Jim has served as Grafton’s CEO since 2002. Prior to his Grafton appointment, Jim was the CEO of North Pointe Behavioral Healthcare Systems in Michigan and later served as the CEO of Unity, Inc., the largest not-for-profit behavioral healthcare provider in Oregon. He led the successful turnaround initiative of Portland, Oregon’s $80M publicly funded mental health system as the County’s Director of System Redesign.
Jim is on the Board of Directors of Mental Health Corporations of America (MHCA) and has chaired their Future Forum for consecutive terms. Jim has also been a SAMHSA invitee to the past two International Institutes for Mental Health Leadership in Auckland, New Zealand and Edinborough, Scotland.
Jim attended Ohio State University and the University of Toledo where he completed a dual major doctoral track in Clinical and Educational Psychology. He also completed his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and his Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology.
Kent Houchins, Executive Vice President of Behavioral Health Services
Kent is Grafton’s Executive Vice President of Behavioral Health Services and joined the organization in September 2010. Kent brings a wealth of experience to Grafton, having worked in the behavioral health services field for over sixteen years.
In his previous role as the clinical director for the Southwest Indiana Regional Youth Village, he managed a 188 bed residential and group home facility. In this role, Kent worked toward expanding the organization’s continuum of care to community and home based services and helped develop multidisciplinary treatment teams.
He earned a BA in Psychology from Ball State University and a Master’s degree in social work from Indiana University. Kent also holds a master’s in business administration from Indiana State University and is a licensed clinical social worker.
Kimberly Sanders, Executive Vice President Chief Outcomes Officer
Kim has worked with children and adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities for nearly 20 years. During her tenure at Grafton, Kim has served as Program Supervisor, Case Manager, Adult Services Administrator, Residential Administrator and Executive Director of the Winchester facility. She has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Outcomes Officer since October 2010. Kim has presented at the national and international level on the Minimization of Restraint and Seclusion model and she is recognized as an innovator for moving towards a physical restraint free environment at Grafton.
Kim’s education includes a BA in Psychology from Shepherd College and a MS in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University.
James H. Stewart, Executive Vice President/Chief Administrative Officer
James (Jamie) joined Grafton in August 2008 as Chief Administrative Officer and Executive Vice-President. As a successful financial manager with over twenty years’ progressive experience in a healthcare environment, Jamie’s responsibilities have included direction and supervision of multiple corporations and departments in a Community Mental Health Center.
Jamie previously served as Chief Financial Officer at The Center for Behavioral Health (CBH) in Bloomington, Indiana where he spearheaded the implementation of an electronic client record system. CBH subsequently won the prestigious Davies Award in 2006 becoming one of the few behavioral healthcare organizations to have been honored since the award’s inception in 1995. The HIMMS Davies awards are given annually in recognition of excellence in the implementation and use of health information technology.
He earned a BS in Accounting from the University of Kentucky and is working towards an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Scott Zeiter, Executive Vice President of Strategic Business Development
Scott is Grafton’s Executive Vice President of Strategic Business Development and joined the company in January 2011. In his previous role as CEO of North Spring Behavioral Healthcare, Scott managed a turnaround initiative resulting in compliance with regulatory and licensing agencies, financial viability and the implementation of creative and innovative programming in alignment with the children’s services system of care transformation initiative in Virginia.
Prior to his role at North Spring, Scott served as Risk Manager/Director of Performance Improvement at The Horsham Clinic in Ambler, Pennsylvania where he managed numerous aspects of the risk management program, coordinated performance improvement initiatives and provided clinical supervision to social work staff, specializing in structural family therapy.
Scott earned a BA from Michigan State University and a Master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania and is a licensed clinical social worker.
William F. Davis, Chief Information Officer
Bill has many years of experience in information technology and has provided technical and management support in information technology for all Grafton operational facilities since he joined the company in 1999. He worked in a variety of industries besides human services, primarily manufacturing and banking, providing leadership at the top level in the IT area for a number of different enterprises.
He earned an Associate degree in Applied Science in Electronic Data Processing from Alfred State College.
Kelly Coffman, Executive Director, Winchester
Kelly has over 20 years experience in the human services field. Her tenure at Grafton began in 1989 when she served as a Residential Instructor at the Berryville facility. Since then, Kelly has served as Residential Supervisor, Operations Manager and Residential Administrator. In October 2008, Kelly was appointed Executive Director for Berryville’s Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility and now serves as the Executive Director for the Winchester facility.
Kelly earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership at Eastern Mennonite University and a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership at Mountain State University.
Melissa Johns, Executive Director, Richmond
Melissa (Missy) has served in a number of leadership roles since joining Grafton in 1999 including Residential Manager and Quality Improvement Supervisor and she is a strong advocate for individuals with disabilities. As Executive Director, Missy is responsible for the administrative and clinical oversight of the Richmond facility. Prior to Grafton, she served as a Therapist in the Emergency services department of Prince William County’s (VA) Community Services Board where she provided services for individuals who were at imminent risk of injuring themselves.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Longwood College and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology.
Lisa Marshall, PhD, Director of Clinical Services
Dr. Marshall is the Director of Clinical Services and has been employed at Grafton since 2004. Prior to Grafton, she was an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Virginia Commonwealth University where she served as a supervising psychologist at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children (VTCC). She was also the founder and coordinator of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services at VTCC. Dr. Marshall has a wealth of experience facilitating seminars and trainings across the country on various topics related to the mental health needs and treatment of children and adolescents.
Dr. Marshall earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin and a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.
