The Interview
The admissions case manager will schedule a pre-placement interview at your convenience. Most interviews occur at one of Grafton’s sites so that applicants, family members and agency representatives have the opportunity to tour the site and meet prospective team members. If a visit to a Grafton site is not reasonable, a team will interview applicants at their current placement.

At the interview there is an open exchange of information so that applicants, families and agency representatives can get to know Grafton better and so that we may become acquainted with the child and the family. The tour and the interview process usually give all parties enough information to make a sound decision about placement at Grafton. The pre-placement interview also helps to determine the specific outcomes being sought for and by the individual, related services needed and the approximate length of stay required to accomplish the outcomes. We have found that having clear expectations around these issues helps with individual treatment and communication among all parties.

Grafton’s decision can often be made within 24 hours of the preplacement interviews. If the decision is to offer the applicant services, an admissions case manager will call the agency to ensure funding and then contact the parent/guardian to discuss enrollment dates and necessary paperwork. If, for some reason, the decision is made not to provide services, the admissions case manager will explain the reason for the decision and will offer suggestions and resources for better suited options. Interviews that occur in homes, schools or other placements essentially follow the same process of collaboration and communication.
