Disabilities Treated
Grafton works with children and adults who have cognitive disabilities including:

  • Autism / Pervasive Developmental Disorders
  • Intellectual & Cognitive Disabilities
  • Psychiatric Conditions

Many of Grafton’s clients are identified as having more than one diagnosis; for example, autism with severe mental retardation; anxiety disorder with mental retardation; or bi-polar disorder with learning disabilities. Grafton also serves people with physically handicapping conditions such as cerebral palsy.

Grafton works with individuals with disabilities, their families and professional caregivers, as well as public agencies. Our goal is to help people who have difficulty finding other assistance due to the severity of their needs means that we are not restricted to specific populations. In fact, Grafton consistently works with people with more challenging disabilities, including rare physiological syndromes.

The subpages provide brief definitions of the most commonly used terms to describe some of the individuals we serve.

Children

Grafton student services are available for individuals ages 6 through 21, both male and female. Specific residences have gender and age requirements, but our extensive choices and flexibility mean that rapid placement is generally assured. Many disabilities are served in our student services.

Adults

Grafton’s adult services provide support to men and women who require some level of supervision to live successfully in a community setting. All adult clients supported by Grafton are diagnosed with mental retardation and may have autism or a psychiatric disorder. Services for adult clients and are funded through the Community Medicaid Waiver Program. However, Grafton has the expertise to support adults with many other diagnoses or conditions. The men and women we support are 19 years and older, including senior citizens.
