Day support is intended to provide a range of social, physical, education and recreational activities for adults whose disabilities prevent them from participating in other training or work programs.
ADAPT (Adult Day Activities Program Team)
ADAPT is a center-based day program for adults with disabilities who require support. ADAPT is committed to the belief that everyone has the right to a meaningful life with opportunities for growth, self-expression and social interaction. All ADAPT participants have opportunities for socialization, recreation, creative expression, and the development of vocational, community and self-care skills. Participants in the program have an enriching schedule that includes art therapy, music therapy and swimming. Special guests are invited to share their time and experience and educational, fun field trips are planned as well.
ADAPT was spearheaded by the Advocacy Committee of the Arc of Northern Shenandoah Valley in order to fill a longtime service gap in the community. The committee evolved into the ADAPT Board of Directors, which joined forces with the Youth Development Center (YDC) and Grafton Adult Services to create a unique partnership.
